The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder
5/5
Better known for Sophie’s World, which is, for me, predictable in its approach – subsequently, being fairly dull – and over-rated. This second story by Jostein Gaarder is infinitely more inventive, creative, charming and fairy-tale-like.
One of the few stories I’ve read more than once and one of the few I carry around so that I can share it with as many people as possible. It is also the first book that comes to mind when I think of favourites and inspirations, and peer over my shoulder glancing for landmarks.
It has left an indelible impression on me (in many ways).
Life-affirming stuff indeed that makes you feel all good inside.
Go on, get busy on the rainbow fizz(y).
